This Privacy Policy applies to the Adaptive Flashcards web application available at adaptiveflashcards.com. When you sign in to the web app using your Google account, certain information from your Google profile is collected and stored in our database so that your study progress can be saved and synced across sessions. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.

When you sign in using your Gmail account, we receive and store the following information: your Gmail email address and your login details provided by Google's authentication service. Your email address is the key identifier used to associate your account with your study progress. We do not collect your Google password or any other account credentials.

In addition to your Google profile data, we store your study progress in our database. This includes which flashcard decks you have studied, your card review history, and your session activity. This data is linked to your Google account and is what allows your progress to persist across devices and sessions. Without storing this data server-side, it would not be possible to offer cross-session progress tracking.

The sole purpose of storing your Google account information and study progress is to provide the core functionality of the signed-in experience: saving your progress and allowing you to resume where you left off. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the web application. Guest users who do not sign in have no data stored on our servers.

Your login details and study progress are stored in the Adaptive Flashcards cloud database, hosted on a secure cloud server. Access to this database is restricted to the application backend only. We do not expose your personal information through public APIs. Connections between your browser and our servers are encrypted via HTTPS. We take reasonable technical precautions to protect stored data from unauthorised access.

Sign-in is powered by Google OAuth 2.0. By choosing to sign in with your Gmail account, you are also subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We only request the minimum OAuth scopes needed to retrieve your Gmail email address for account identification. We do not request access to your emails, Google Drive, Contacts, or any other Google services.

Your account data and study progress are retained for as long as you have an active account on the web application. If you wish to have your data deleted, you can contact us at the email address below and we will remove your account and all associated data from our database within a reasonable time.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for commercial purposes. Your Gmail address, login details, and study progress are used exclusively to operate the Adaptive Flashcards web application and are not disclosed to advertisers, data brokers, or other external entities.

The web application uses Google Analytics to collect anonymised, aggregate usage data such as page views and session duration. This data does not identify you personally and is used solely to understand how the site is used and to improve it. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using browser extensions such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.

You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate data, and to request deletion of your account and associated data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us by email. We will respond to all requests within a reasonable timeframe.

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
