Preparation is done. The night before and the morning of NEET-UG, your goal is to be calm, rested, and ready to perform — not to cram new content.
The Night Before: No New Topics
The night before the exam is the wrong time to learn anything new. Your brain needs to consolidate existing knowledge, not absorb new information that can interfere with what you already know. Do a light review of key formulas, important diagrams, and frequently tested facts. Keep it to 1–2 hours maximum. Then stop studying and focus on rest.
Sleep Is Non-Negotiable
Sleep deprivation significantly impairs working memory, processing speed, and decision-making — all of which you need in the exam. Aim for 7–8 hours the night before. If you are anxious, avoid screens for 30–60 minutes before bed. Your performance depends far more on being rested than on any last-minute revision.
Morning Routine
Wake up early enough to avoid rushing. Eat a proper breakfast — your brain needs glucose to function. Carry your admit card, a government-issued photo ID, a valid passport-size photograph, and a transparent water bottle. Arrive at the exam centre at least 30 minutes before the reporting time to avoid stress.
Time Management in the Exam
NEET gives you 200 minutes for 200 questions — one minute per question on average. Do not spend more than 90 seconds on any single question. Mark questions you are unsure about and return to them. Attempt Biology first (it is typically faster for well-prepared students), then move to Chemistry and Physics.
Negative Marking Strategy
NEET deducts 1 mark for every wrong answer. Do not guess randomly — only attempt a question if you can eliminate at least two of the four options. If you have no idea, leave it blank. Intelligent guessing (where you have narrowed it to two options) is statistically beneficial, but random guessing is not.
